Procedural Particle Simulation & Render
A Cinema 4D and X-Particles simulation built around a single idea, capturing the feeling of a portal opening, choreographed across two cameras and rendered as a 192-frame sequence.
Overview
This project is a particle simulation built entirely in Cinema 4D with X-Particles. The brief was self-directed: chase the feeling of a portal opening, a dense mass of particles peeling back to reveal a dark aperture at its center, lit in violet and choreographed across two cameras.
Screenshots
Stills pulled straight from the rendered PNG sequence: the wide camera catching the portal at the moment it splits open, and the zoom camera close on the granular, crystalline particle surface.

Camera choreography
The render features a two-camera system: a zoom sequence (71 frames) that pulls the viewer into the aperture at the center of the form, followed by a wide sequence (121 frames) that reveals the full portal unfurling. The 192-frame combined sequence was rendered as a PNG sequence in Cinema 4D for guaranteed cross-browser playback quality, then compiled into the final video render.

Tools & techniques
Cinema 4D with the X-Particles plugin for simulation and particle surfacing. Dense particle distribution for a granular, sand-like material read. Violet lighting to sell the otherworldly, portal-like glow. Two-camera choreography (zoom + wide) for the reveal. PNG sequence rendering in Cinema 4D for guaranteed cross-browser playback, compiled into the final video.
